SALT LAKE CITY — Utah health officials reported 3,206 new COVID-19 cases and 19 additional deaths over the past two weeks.

The daily average for new cases was 243 over the past seven days, up from 215 two weeks prior, according to data from the Utah Department of Health and Human Services.

The confirmed COVID-19 cases continue to be an undercount due to the low prevalence of people getting tested, and because many people now use at-home tests that do not get reported to health officials.

The percentage of wastewater testing facilities that are seeing increasing or elevated levels of the coronavirus fell to 20.6%, although the percentage of emergency room patients with COVID-19 increased to 1.79%.

On Thursday, there were 113 patients currently hospitalized for confirmed COVID-19, 21 of whom were in intensive care units. Over the last seven days, there have been 77.6 patients hospitalized per day on average, and 13.6 average daily patients in intensive care units.

To date, Utah has confirmed 1,043,353 coronavirus cases and 5,047 deaths due to the disease.
