LEHI — Deseret Digital Media is a Utah fixture, operating KSL.com as well as Utah.com, and on Thursday the company will take a step toward becoming a fixture in the Silicon Slopes community as it hosts an open house for its new Lehi office.

The new office is located at the UCCU Lehi Pointe Building, 3333 Digital Drive, where a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday.

"Deseret Digital Media is a tech company," said human resources director Mark Judge. "I think it strengthens our positioning as a tech company being in Silicon Slopes amongst the other tech companies."

Nate Hatch, president of Deseret Digital Media, said the company was looking to reduce its footprint in the Triad Center in downtown Salt Lake City, which will continue to house branches of DDM in a reduced capacity.

"Our intention is to have a similar space in both locations," Hatch said. "Roughly 4,000 square feet in each location that would allow us to utilize either location in a similar way, depending on who wants to use it."

Hatch also said he views the expansion to Lehi as an opportunity to "expose what we do to a broader audience."

"It excites me that we are looking at both regional and national growth where we can help other accounts. Not to take anything away from our current and the dominance we have in this market, and we certainly want to maintain that and expand it," Hatch said.

Thursday's open house will be an opportunity for Deseret Digital Media employees, as well as tech leaders and community members to see the company's new space nestled in Silicon Slopes.

Following Thursday's ribbon-cutting, the open house will feature a light lunch, music, photo stations and more.

"We are expecting a pretty good turnout," said Taylor Shepherd, DDM's events manager. "It's definitely employee-, as well as community-focused. We definitely want other people to come and check us out (and) see what we do."
