SALT LAKE CITY — Utah is two weeks into conference play and holds an unblemished record in the Pac-12. The Utes now have a road opportunity to make a statement against an undefeated UCLA team that jumped into the Associated Press Top 25 rankings this week.
But first was a recent lopsided win over a good Oregon State team at Rice-Eccles Stadium to cleanse a loss to the Beavers last season. Utah found a way to get it done this year and also helped out three of its fans to claim the top three prizes in Week 5 of KSL.com College Football Pick'em.
All three Utah fans went undefeated this week, with John Visser scoring an impressive 250 points out of a possible 300 points for the weekend to top the leaderboard. Behind him was S Slager with 245 points and Craig Loertscher with 243 points. They, along with 98.7% of the Utah fan base picked Utah to beat Oregon State this week.
Despite Utah fans claiming the top prizes, BYU fans edged out Utah fans with an average of 27.2 points per game to Utah fans' 27.1 points. In a close third place was Aggies fans at 26.7 points. For the season, BYU fans remain at the top with 23.2 points, followed by a growing Utah contingent that's increased to 21.7 and Utah State fans at 21.3.
This week's first-, second- and third-place winners will get a $100, $70 and $30 Visa gift card, respectively, courtesy of Goldenwest Credit Union. The overall winners of Pick'em will receive a $500 gift card for first place, a $250 gift card for second place and a $100 gift card for third place.
