SALT LAKE CITY — Utah health officials on Thursday confirmed 3,538 new COVID-19 cases over the past week, as well as 13 additional deaths.
The daily average for new cases was about 506, a sharp decrease over the previous week when the average was 770 per day, according to the data from the Utah Department of Health and Human Services.
Slightly more wastewater testing sites (67.6%) were seeing increased or elevated levels of the virus compared to the last week (64.7%).
But the percentage of people who visited the emergency room and tested positive for COVID-19 fell from 3.63% the previous week to 2.88% this week.
To date, Utah has confirmed 1,023,669 cases of the coronavirus and 4,953 deaths due to the disease.
