LAYTON — A 7-year-old boy was hospitalized in critical condition Sunday after being hit by a car in Layton, police said.

About 7 p.m., a pizza delivery vehicle struck the boy, who was riding a bicycle in the area of 255 E. 3700 North, said Layton Police Sgt. Mike Donnelly.

The boy was flown to Primary Children's Hospital. Police initially said he was 10.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation, Donnelly said. Police do not suspect impairment as a factor in the crash. The driver was not injured.

Donnelly said the driver was released from the scene and did not receive a citation.

Details about what may have caused the crash have not yet been released.
