WEST VALLEY CITY — West Valley City police responded to a call at 10:06 p.m. on Thursday night to what they said appears to be an attempted homicide.
"This does not appear like an accident," West Valley City Police spokesman Pete Valencia said.
A man is alive, but in critical condition, police said.
The man was shot in the back of the head while inside a car. He arrived at the hospital in critical condition in the car, which had a bullet hole in it, according to Valencia.
There are currently no suspects in custody.
The incident occurred near 3570 South and 6400 West in West Valley City. Detectives are canvassing neighborhoods nearby looking for security camera footage that may help them with the investigation.
Police said there is not a threat to the public. No more information has been released about the person who was injured.

Correction: This story was initially updated to say that the man had died, due to a miscommunication about a different individual who was killed in St. George. The incident occurred Thursday night, not Friday.
