SPANISH FORK — One person is dead after a motorcycle crash near the Festival of Colors in Spanish Fork on Sunday afternoon.

The person was a passenger on a motorcycle when the driver lost control on state Route 198 and the motorcycle rolled around 3:35 p.m., according to a press release. Traffic was busy at the time due to the festival.

The driver flew from the motorcycle and hit a car in the lane, and the passenger was pinned under the motorcycle. Utah County deputies and Utah Highway Patrol troopers who were nearby for the event arrived and began CPR.

The passenger died from their injuries at a local hospital, while the driver had minor injuries.

Police say neither person was wearing a helmet.
