PARK CITY – A woman is dead after her car hit a guard rail in Park City Sunday evening.

The accident took place around 11 p.m. when police say a westbound GMC Sierra struck the guardrail on the south side of State Road 248, sending it into an embankment, police said.

Police said the driver, who was not wearing her seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol was found inside the car, police said, it is suspected that impairment could have been a contributing factor in the accident.

The name of the deceased has not been released.
