SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake police announced Friday that they have tied a third person — a 16-year-old boy — to a fatal drive-by shooting that killed Sean Amone, 21, in June.

Salt Lake police declined to provide any other details about him. They said he was first arrested in July and booked into juvenile detention on an unrelated matter.

"During the course of the investigation, detectives worked with the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office to file charges related to the homicide in February 2022," police said in a statement Friday but declined to specify anything about the charges.

The shooting happened in the early morning hours of June 6, 2021, at 1354 N. General Drive in Salt Lake City, Amone's house. Four other men, all between the ages of 19 and 20 years old, were also shot and injured.

The victims told detectives that they had been at a graduation dance at Trolley Square earlier in the evening but left after a fight broke out and shots were exchanged outside the building. Salt Lake police say one person was shot in the leg during that confrontation.

The group then went to Amone's house. It was originally reported that the group continued their graduation festivities there, but family members say by that time, the graduation party was over. According to family members, the group had gone to Amone's house to seek shelter from the incident at Trolley Square.

Two others have been arrested in connection with the killing. In June, a 15-year-old boy believed to be the shooter was arrested and later charged in juvenile court with murder. The 15-year-old admitted to police he had been involved in a fistfight earlier at Trolley Square, according to court documents. After taking his friend who was shot in the leg to a local hospital, the 15-year-old met with another group and allegedly stated, "Any Polynesians from Rose Park are getting smoked."

The drive-by shooting occurred about 90 minutes later. KSL.com is not naming the accused shooter at this time.

Last month, Felix "Fat" Issara, 19, was arrested in St. George and charged with obstructing justice, a second-degree felony. Issara was the driver of the vehicle used during the drive-by shooting, according to charging documents. Investigators believe he also hid a rifle after the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call Salt Lake City police at 801-799-3000 and reference case number 21-96966.
