NORTH SALT LAKE — One person is dead after a wrong-way driver hit multiple vehicles and a motorcycle on northbound Interstate 15 in North Salt Lake, the Utah Highway Patrol said.

Police received reports of a wrong-way driver on I-15 near 2600 South at 7:14 p.m. and later heard of a crash involving multiple cars and a motorcycle near Center Street, according to a press release.

The crash has closed northbound I-15 at exit 312 to Beck Street/U.S. Highway 89. Eastbound Interstate 215 is also closed at Legacy Parkway Junction. UHP said I-15 would be closed for several hours. Drivers should expect major delays and are encouraged to use Legacy Parkway as an alternate route.
