OREM — A Payson man was charged Monday with arranging to have sex with a person he thought was a 13-year-old.
After his arrest, detectives found evidence that the man had previously had illegal sexual relations with a high school student, according to charging documents.
Brayden Eric Tousley, 28, is charged in 4th District Court with attempted rape of a child, a first-degree felony; plus enticing a minor and four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, second-degree felonies.
On Thursday, officers with the State Bureau of Invesigation conducted an online undercover investigation. An agent posing as a 13-year-old girl began talking to Tousley in a chat room, the charges state. After the undercover agent informed Tousley that "she" was 13, he allegedly asked her if she likes "older guys."
Tousley arranged to meet the girl at a church parking lot in Orem. After his arrest, he told police his plan was to "check to see whether the church was open and if it was not, they could use the back of his van," the charging documents say.
After Tousley arrived at the church in his work van, officers closed in and arrested him.
As investigators were going through Tousley's phone, they found four videos of a nude girl, the charges state.
"Tousley advised me that he had previously met up with the female on her lunch break at her high school" and engaged in sexual contact in the back of his van, a police booking affidavit states.
He also told police that he "believed the female to be 18 and a senior in high school. Further investigation indicated that the female was 15 years old," the charges state.
