SALT LAKE CITY — Gov. Spencer Cox on Thursday announced he has appointed Jack Szczepanowski as the new director for the state's Medicaid program.
The Utah Senate will need to approve the appointment before Szczepanowski, a vice president for health insurance company Humana, can begin.
"His experience in analyzing financial data and understanding this important program will serve Utahns well," Cox said. "His perspective will also be helpful as we establish the Utah Sustainable Health Collaborative that is focused on reducing health care costs and improving health outcomes for Utahns. I look forward to working with him."
Szczepanowski has experience in health care and has worked with various health care systems. He is currently the vice president of Medicaid Networks, Vendors and Value-Based Strategies at Humana, and previously worked as the vice president of the company's behavioral health network operations.
