SALT LAKE CITY — The silver alert issued for 76-year-old John Michael Hayden was canceled after he was found safe Sunday.

Hayden was last seen Thursday and was considered at-risk by police. He was located just after 11:40 a.m. Sunday at a homeless shelter in Salt Lake City, according to Provo officer Shad Lefever.

Hayden had been last seen in the Salt Lake City area where he was supposed to return on a bus to his assisted living center in Provo but never arrived.

He was considered at risk due to his dementia, neuropathy and disability of the hands.
