DRAPER — A man allegedly upset that his pizza order wasn't ready when he went to pick it up is accused of shooting several rounds at the business and its employees.

Paul Fracasso, 32, of Draper, was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail Sunday night for investigation of illegal discharge of a firearm and aggravated assault.

About 7 p.m. Sunday, police say Fracasso and another man went to Papa John's, 767 E. 12300 South, and told an employee that they had placed an order over the phone.

"The employee explained to the two males that their systems had been down and the call-in orders had not been showing up for them. He told the two males he did not have their order, but began attempting to accommodate them by offering to have them place an order in the store," according to a police booking affidavit.

The two men, however, became "very agitated and began swearing at the employee," prompting the employee to ask the men to leave, the affidavit states. When the men refused to leave, the employee called 911 and described Fracasso as being the main aggressor.

The employee noted that one of the men had arrived at the store on a dirt bike.

Later in the evening, about 8:45 p.m., the employee who was in the confrontation with Fracasso went out the back door of the business for a break. While he was outside, he heard five to six shots "very close by," according to the affidavit. Two employees inside the store heard the "pops" and saw or heard glass shattering. One man told police that he "dropped to the ground and crawled to the bathroom in the back of the store. He stated glass shards had struck him in the face."

Police say the man suffered several cuts on his face.

The employee who was outside said he heard a motocross bike driving away after the shots were fired, the affidavit says.

"Detectives walked through the scene at the Papa John's and located four shell casings (from a 40-caliber Smith and Wesson handgun) in the front of the store. Bullet holes and projectiles were found in the walls inside the Papa John's store," police wrote in the affidavit.

Draper police officers checked the surrounding areas and spotted a detached garage with two men and a motocross bike near 12250 S. 900 East, according to the affidavit. The muffler on the bike was still hot, one officer noted. Using surveillance video from the pizza store, police said they positively identified the two men as the ones who had been in store earlier.

Detectives then obtained a warrant to swab for DNA and gunshot residue which was found on Fracasso's hands, the affidavit states, and the suspected gun used in the shooting was found in his car. Fracasso was subsequently arrested.
