TAYLORSVILLE — Two children were taken to the hospital after they were hit by a car while trick-or-treating Saturday in Taylorsville, police said.
Four children in their early teens were crossing at a crosswalk at 2700 W. Matterhorn Dr. around 7 p.m. when a southbound car struck at least two of the children, Taylorsville Police Chief Brady Cottam said.
One child was listed in critical condition and another is in extreme critical, or life-threatening, condition Saturday night, Cottam said.
"It's terrible," the chief said. "This is a night that we as adults and drivers in general really need to slow down."
The incident is still under investigation and the driver of the car is cooperating, Cotton said.
West Jordan and Unified police departments assisted in responding to the incident.
Correction: In an earlier version Taylorsville Police Chief Brady Cottam's last name was incorrectly spelled Cottan.
