WEST JORDAN — Two more people have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 17-year-old West Jordan boy inside his home.
Wilbur Allen Kerney, 19, of Holladay, and Salior Tenley Noel, 19, were booked into the Salt Lake County jail on Thursday for investigation of murder and obstructing justice.
Their arrests come on the heels of police arresting Cody Elijah Ivory, 19, for investigation of murder, discharge of a firearm and obstructing justice. Police believe Ivory was the gunman who shot and killed Jacob Jeremy Hansen, 17, at his home on Monday.
On that day, police were called to 3517 W. 8245 South by Hansen's mother who said her son had been shot, according to a police booking affidavit. Officers "located the victim laying on the ground with what appeared to be gunshot wound. Inside the doorway, officers observed a handgun lying on the ground. Officers observed three spent shell casings and a spent bullet slug outside the front door on the ground. Inside the front door, officers observed smeared blood on the wall, and three more shell casings on the ground," the affidavit states.
Based on interviews, detectives believe Ivory went to Hansen's house under the guise of buying drugs, but planned on robbing him, the affidavit states. Video recorded from a house across the street showed three people arriving at the house — two of them going to the front door and the third walking around to the back, the affidavit states.
Kerney told police that when Ivory knocked on the door, Hansen answered and told him to leave, according to the affidavit. Ivory and Hansen then got into a fight and a shot was fired, Kerney told detectives, the affidavit states.
Kerney claimed to police that "he would not have gone ... had he known (Ivory) was going to rob the victim," according to the affidavit. However he admitted that he went to the house armed, the affidavit states.
Police, however, believe that Kerney was aware of Ivory's intentions of robbing Hansen, and therefore arrested him for investigation of murder, according to the affidavit.
Likewise, police say Noel was also aware of Ivory's intentions and allegedly sold the gun Ivory used after the shooting, a police booking affidavit states.
