MURRAY — Murray police have released the name of a man who was shot and killed on Wednesday.
Carlos Jhovany Huerta-Garcia, 22, was found just inside the front door of a home at 125 E. 4800 South with a gunshot wound about 1:50 a.m. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said on Wednesday that they believe the gunman and Huerta-Garcia knew each other.
No other new information was released Friday.
"This is an active homicide investigation and no further information is available at this time," the department said in a prepared statement.
There were other people inside the house who called 911 at the time of the shooting. Police do not believe Huerta-Garcia lived at the house but was somehow associated with the other residents and was in the home prior to the shooting.
After the shooting, the gunman ran from the scene, according to police.
Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call Murray police at 801-840-4000.
