MURRAY — One man is dead following an early morning shooting in Murray.

About 1:50 a.m. Wednesday, police were called to 125 E. 4800 South on a report of a shooting. A man in his 20s was found just inside the front door of the residence with a gunshot wound, according to a statement from Murray police. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, police stated.

Police have not released the victim's name. Investigators also stated that the alleged gunman "is unknown" but they believe the victim and suspect knew each other.

There were other people inside the house at the time of the shooting who called police. Police do not believe the victim lived at the house but was somehow associated with the other residents and was in the home prior to the shooting.

After the shooting, the alleged gunman ran from the scene, according to police.

No other details about the investigation were immediately released Wednesday.
