SALT LAKE CITY — Coming off the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where former Utes gymnast MyKayla Skinner earned an improbable silver medal, the Red Rocks have added another Olympian to its ranks.

Amelie Morgan, a bronze medalist for Great Britain, signed with Utah and will be a part of the incoming freshman class that includes silver medalist Grace McCallum and Team USA alternate Kara Eaker, as well as uneven bars national champion Sage Thompson.

Morgan was part of the British Olympic Team that competed in the Team Final this year, placing just behind Team USA for a spot on the podium. Morgan recorded the team's best score on uneven bars and third-best score on balance beam for Great Britain during the finals, which helped the country to a bronze medal — its first since 1928.

"We are beyond thrilled to have Amelie Morgan join our program," head coach Tom Farden said in a statement. "Her contributions at the Tokyo Olympic Games helped Team Great Britain to a historic team medal. She is known for her work ethic and unshakeable determination. We feel these qualities will serve her well in the NCAA and in our program."

Morgan is a native of Bristol, England, where she earned a bronze medal on uneven bars at the 2021 European Championship in April. In 2019, she earned a gold medal in the all-around and on beam at the English Championships.

The Red Rocks will now welcome three incoming Olympians to a team that placed third at NCAA nationals in April.
