ROY — A 16-year-old boy was shot in the stomach inside a Roy home on Wednesday.

Police say two boys, both 16, were in a home near 2500 West and 5200 South just before 1 p.m. and were doing something with firearms, when one of the guns went off, said Roy police detective Josh Taylor. Although the shooting is believed to be accidental, police were still trying to determine Wednesday afternoon whether the victim shot himself or was accidentally shot by the other boy, Taylor said.

The boy was taken to a local hospital for treatment. An updated condition was not known Wednesday.

Police did not immediately know where the boys got the guns.
