TOOELE — A Tooele man accused of giving a woman drugs that caused her to have a fatal overdose faces criminal charges in connection with her death.
William Camacho Johnson, 45, was charged Monday in 3rd District Court with manslaughter, a second-degree felony; plus drug distribution and two counts of drug possession with intent to distribute, both first-degree felonies.
On June 10, police in Stockton, Tooele County, were called to a residence where a 21-year-old woman had fatally overdosed on drugs. The woman's mother told police that her daughter purchased the drugs from Johnson at his Tooele residence, according to a police affidavit. The daughter allegedly bought heroin from Johnson, but her mother claimed Johnson gave her "straight fentanyl," the affidavit states.
The Tooele Major Crimes Task Force, which had already been investigating Johnson's house prior to the woman's death, served a search warrant and reported finding heroin and methamphetamine.
In 2017, Johnson was sentenced to a term of up to five years in the Utah State Prison for drug possession. A judge ordered that sentence to run consecutively to Johnson's conviction for drug distribution in a separate case, for which he was also sentenced to a term of up to five years in prison, according to court records.
