SALT LAKE CITY — "The Real Housewives of the North Pole," presumably a riff on Bravo's ultra-popular series of reality TV shows, is among seven new productions recently approved to start filming in Utah.

"The Real Housewives of the North Pole" is a holiday comedy movie that will be distributed by NBC's streaming service Peacock TV, according to a June 10 news release from the Utah Film Commission. It's slated to start shooting in July. Bravo already shoots a version of its "Real Housewives" series set in Utah, but the Peacock "North Pole" movie doesn't appear to be connected in any way.

The film commission initially said the movie would be distributed by Netflix, but later clarified that it is Peacock's production.

The seven projects, which were approved by the Governor's Office of Economic Development board, are expected to generate $25 million in economic revenue for Utah, as well as create 800 jobs, the film commission said.

"2021 will be a busy summer for film production in Utah," Virginia Pearce, the Utah Film Commission's director, said in prepared statement. "We are thrilled to be working with Miramax, Netflix, 20th Television, and others to highlight Utah's cinematic locations and professional crew. Productions filmed in the state have both a creative and an economic impact, particularly those filmed in rural communities, which supports our mission to encourage production and grow our film industry."

The comedy series "Highsail" is scheduled to start filming in Salt Lake County in July, the film commission said. It will be distributed by an as-yet-unannounced streaming service, according to the news release.

Hallmark Channel production "Love on the Pecan Farm" will start filming in June in Washington, Wasatch and Salt Lake counties, and 20th Television's pilot "The Last Police" will start shooting in the fall in Salt Lake County.

"Sick," a thriller film from Miramax, is currently filming in and around Weber County. Indie comedy film "California King" is scheduled to start filming in July, and a comedy film known only as "Untitled DNA Project" will start filming in Salt Lake and Utah counties in August, the film commission said.
