SOUTH JORDAN — A 19-year-old man has died after a drive-by shooting early Sunday morning in South Jordan, police said.

Around 2 a.m., two groups got in an altercation at a house party near 1450 W. 11400 South in South Jordan. As one group was leaving, someone fired roughly a dozen shots from a car, police said.

A 19-year-old male was shot in the chest and transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The shooting is under investigation, and detectives are looking for the suspect.

South Jordan Police Lt. Matt Pennington said the relationship between the two groups is unknown. He believes the incident is not related to a drive-by shooting that occurred around the same time in Salt Lake City where one man was killed and four more were injured.

There is no current threat to the public, Pennington said.

The identity of the man who was killed has not yet been released.
