SALT LAKE CITY — A 19-year-old man died after he was shot multiple times in an altercation at a home early Saturday morning, police said.
Police and emergency crews responded to a report of a shooting at a home located at 2393 E. 1700 South shortly after midnight, said Salt Lake City Lt. Gary Trost. When they arrived, they found the man who had been shot.
The man, whose name was not immediately released, was transported to a hospital where he died from his wounds.
The shooting remains under investigation. Detectives are still working to piece together what happened.
Trost said there was some sort of large gathering at the home at the time, and there was an altercation at the front door between a male and the 19-year-old man when shots were fired.
Police were still in the process of finding and interviewing witnesses and did not have any information on whether an arrest had been made, and they did not have a description of the person who shot the 19-year-old man.
Anyone who has information about the shooting is encouraged to call police at 801-799-3000.
