TAYLORSVILLE — Police say the death of a 16-year-old boy found in a cargo trailer in the backyard of a Taylorsville residence has been confirmed as a homicide.

The boy's body was discovered just after 4 p.m. Wednesday at 1623 Elsie Drive. Unified police initially announced they were looking for a 17-year-old boy who was a "person of interest" in the incident, and later announced they had found that boy.

Unified police announced on Thursday night that the teenager has been taken into custody.

A cause of death has not been released. Investigators have also not said what made the death suspicious, but Unified Police Sgt. Melody Cutler said a lot of blood was found at the crime scene. She said both boys were friends. Their names have not yet been released.
