SALT LAKE CITY – Lieutenant Governor Deidre Henderson wants to help you get back to work by coming to work for her with returnships in Utah.
She recently announced her office is the first state agency to be accepting applications for returnships.

The recently announced returnship program aims to help people who've been out of the workforce for a while gain current skills, experience and networking opportunities.
"Returnships are internships for adults looking to reenter the workforce after an extended absence. They are designed as a back-to-work program that provides the experience, training, skills and mentoring that an individual needs to return to the workforce without starting from the bottom of the career ladder," according to the state's website.
Henderson said this program will help people who were stay-at-home parents, military spouses or those who spent a long time caring for a parent or others.
"I spent 13 years as a stay-at-home mom and you gain a lot of skills doing stuff like that but they're not skills that necessarily translate well onto a job application or onto a resume," she told KSL NewsRadio.
Henderson said other state agencies will have their jobs online by the end of June. Several private businesses will also be offering returnships.
"With Utah's low unemployment, they're having a hard time filling the jobs that are available. And this is a way to cast the net a little bit wider," she said.
Henderson said they've had "a number of people" apply for the job at her office so far. "There will be a number of listings, so people can kind of look through there and see what excites them and where they might want to apply."
The state is also offering a Learn & Work program, where several colleges and tech schools will have training available. Those are set to be available to apply for by June 1.
"The Learn & Work In Utah program is an opportunity for unemployed, underemployed and vulnerable workers to learn new skills through affordable and flexible short-term programs designed to connect them with a rewarding career," Henderson said.
