RICHMOND, Cache County — A man died Monday morning in a crash near Richmond in Cache County, authorities said.

The crash took place about 7:52 a.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 91 near Richmond, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

A 2002 Cadillac Deville was traveling west on 9000 North and was waiting to turn south on Highway 91, according to a highway patrol news release.

The driver of the Deville, who was the only person in the car, either didn't stop at a stop sign or stopped and then failed to yield, turning out in front of a 2018 Kenworth box truck, which was traveling north on Highway 91, the release said.

The truck hit the Deville broadside, and the impact pushed the Deville into the southbound lanes, where a southbound 2010 Cadillac SRX was then sideswiped, according to the highway patrol.

The driver of the Deville was pronounced dead at the scene, the highway patrol said. On Tuesday, the driver was identified as 22-year-old Jason M. Owen of Tremonton.

The drivers of the other two vehicles, who were the only other people involved, were not injured.
