SOUTH JORDAN — 10400 South will close to east-west traffic at Bangerter Highway this weekend — and stay closed for six months — as work continues on a new freeway-style interchange at the intersection, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.

In a press release, UDOT officials announced that Bangerter Highway will remain open in both directions in addition to right turns onto and off 10400 South.

To get around the closure, UDOT advises drivers to take 9800 South or 11400 South. The agency said detour signs will be posted along the routes and engineers will adjust stoplight timing to accommodate traffic.

Cities and local businesses worked with the Bangerter Interchanges Project to coordinate the closures of 10400 South and 12600 South, which closed in January. The overlapping of the projects is intended to save time along with taxpayer dollars from the budget, the release says. Another exchange is being built at 6200 South in addition to the freeway-style interchanges under construction at 10400 South and 12600 South.

The three interchanges along Bangerter Highway are part of a multi-year program of converting intersections to accommodate the current and future growth of the state, according to UDOT.

Information on current and future plans for interchanges along Bangerter Highway is available at udot.utah.gov/bangerter. For the latest information on roadways or construction can be found at udot.utah.gov.
