SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake police have canceled an Amber Alert after a missing child was found safe early Wednesday.
Police issued the alert for 6-year-old Tru Nakhawit, who was last seen at 1259 W. Iola Ave. about 8 p.m. Tuesday, according to police.
They were also searching for the boy's father, Julian Ulibarri, 35. Police said Ulibarri had custody of Nakhawit, but the Division of Child and Family Services was concerned for the child's safety and planned to remove Nakhawit from Ulibarri's care, according to police. A court order had been issued to take Ulibarri into custody.
Ulibarri was driving a gold Toyota Camry, but police believe he switched cars at some point. Police found the gold car at about 5:20 a.m. Wednesday, but Nakhawit and Ulibarri were not in it.
