MURRAY — One person was taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting of a man near 4500 S. State on Wednesday, Murray police said.

Police started receiving calls on the incident about 1 p.m., said Murray police spokeswoman Kristin Reardon. Emergency crews arrived to find a victim who was deceased in an outdoor area. The alleged gunman left the scene before officers arrived, she said.

The victim was later identified by police as 39-year-old Darnell Brown. Police said the suspected gunman was taken into custody later Wednesday after a warrant was served at a Midvale home.

Police said that the investigation is still ongoing.
