VERNAL — Several people were taken into custody after the Uintah Basin Narcotics Strike Force seized illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia and three handguns in a couple of drug busts near Vernal last month, police say.

According to a news release, the joint operation between Basin Narcotics and DEA agents began on Mar. 12 when a residence in Vernal was suspected as being a place of drug dealing. Police said the team discovered methamphetamine, heroin, LSD, ecstasy and drug paraphernalia there.

The joint investigation resulted in three adult males and two juveniles being charged with possession and/or distribution of methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, LSD, and drug paraphernalia. Officials said that the street value of the narcotics seized during the operation was around $74,000. The individuals are not being named because police say the investigation is still ongoing.

On Friday, the strike force, adult probation and parole agents responded to a home in the Vernal area where a parolee was living. During the bust, around 3 ounces of methamphetamine, "a large quantity of heroin," LSD, ecstasy, and drug paraphernalia were found, police said. Three handguns, two of which were discovered concealed in a shop vacuum, were also confiscated. Police said the team also found a "suspected written ledger detailing the sales of narcotics."

According to the release, Johannah Farley was charged with multiple possession with intent to distribute offenses, possession of illegal narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a restricted person, and child endangerment. The release stated that Kaden Holmes was booked into jail on a board of pardons warrant and could face federal narcotics and weapon charges.
