Passenger dies after car crashes into power pole; police looking for driver who fled

MURRAY — A passenger in a car that hit a power pole at 5730 S. 1300 East on Thursday has died from their injuries, police said.

According to Murray police officer Taylor Blauer, the car crashed into a power pole at 11:24 a.m. Thursday, and the driver jumped out of the car and left their injured passenger inside. The driver fled on foot and is still outstanding, Blauer said.

The passenger was still in the car when an ambulance crew arrived, and they transported the person to the hospital. The person died from their injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital, according to Blauer.
