SALT LAKE CITY — Less than a week after the Utah men's basketball team ended its season to the USC Trojans at the Pac-12 Tournament in Las Vegas, two players have already entered their names into the transfer portal.

Redshirt sophomore Lahat Thioune, a 6-foot-10 forward, and sophomore Jordan Kellier, a 6-foot-6 guard who transferred to Utah before the season started got limited minutes during the 2020-21 season and entered their names into portal Monday.

Thioune played for two seasons with the Utes after redshirting his freshman season and averaged only 5.6 minutes in 20 games this season, included a 3-pointer in a blowout win over Arizona State that electrified the bench; and Kellier averaged only 4.3 minutes in seven games this season.

Following Utah's loss to USC in the tournament, Utah head coach said he talked to the team and hoped they'd all return for another season to continue what the team developed into by the end of the season. But the lack of playing time was an obvious metric to weigh when considering a return to Utah.
