SALT LAKE CITY — Hunter High School in Granite School District moved to online schooling this week in response to more than 15 COVID-19 cases being reported. Several other Utah schools have recently had to make similar moves after case counts at each facility surpassed the state limit of 15.

Per health department guidelines, the school will be closed for two weeks until the first week in November and the community is not under a quarantine.

The dismissal was anticipated by school officials in preparation for mitigating COVID-19 in the school.

While the dismissal itself isn't a signal to the school community to quarantine, it also doesn't supersede any quarantines previously administered by health officials.

During the closure, the school will undergo a deep cleaning. Staying consistent with state guidelines, extracurricular actives can continue so long as case counts per group don't exceed three.
