WENDOVER — A car stolen from Oregon was spotted in West Wendover on Saturday, but made it nearly to Grantsville before officers were able to bring it to a stop.
West Wendover police alerted the Utah Highway Patrol that the vehicle was traveling east on I-80 Saturday about 11:42 a.m., according to UHP Cpl. Colton Freckleton. He said two males, ages 23 and 48, were in the vehicle.
The Highway Patrol was able to spike one of the vehicle's tires about 23 miles east of Wendover, but the car continued. Freckleton said the car was traveling about 65 mph after it was first spiked.
Fifty miles later, just prior to the junction with state Route 196, agents with the Bureau of Indian Affairs spiked two more tires; the driver at that point pulled over and the men were taken into custody by the Highway Patrol without incident, Freckleton said.
