LAYTON — The Utah Department of Transportation is advising drivers to plan ahead for a full closure of I-15 in Davis County overnight Friday and for other construction projects through the weekend.

UDOT will close both directions of I-15 in Layton between Antelope Drive and Layton Parkway as early as 10 p.m. Friday, according to a department news release. Traffic will be diverted onto Main Street and back again onto I-15, UDOT said.

"This closure will allow crews to pour concrete for the driving surface of the new Gentile Street bridge," the release says. "The bridge reconstruction is being done as part of the I-15 Express Lanes project, which is widening I-15 and extending the Express Lanes from Layton to Riverdale."

The highway is expected to reopen by Saturday morning at 8 a.m.

I-15 lane restrictions in American Fork/Lehi

Additionally, crews will be reducing northbound I-15 to three lanes between Main Street in American Fork and 600 East in Lehi beginning Saturday night. The lane closure will begin Aug. 1 at 10:30 p.m. and last until Monday at 5:30 a.m.

"Crews will be pouring concrete as part of the reconstruction of the I-15 bridge over Lehi Main Street," the release says. "Once the concrete has been poured, these lane closures will remain in place to allow it to harden."

The work is part of the I-15 Technology Corridor project. UDOT is building 17 new or reconstructed bridges and working to widen I-15 to six lanes in the area.

9000 South closure in Sandy

Finally, UDOT crews will be closing both directions of 9000 South in Sandy, between Monroe Street and I-15, at various times for the next week.

The closures "will allow crews to place beams for a new bridge over 9000 South," UDOT said, "as part of a future ramp system designed to improve safety and traffic flow on northbound I-15 from 9400 South to I-215."

The first closure will begin Saturday night at 8 p.m. and last until Monday at 5 a.m. Then, UDOT will close the street every night from Aug. 4 through Aug. 6 from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.

Check the UDOT traffic website for the latest information on delays, crashes and construction.
