(KSL News) A man recently sentenced to prison for kidnapping a Provo child is appealing his guilty verdict.

Jimmy Guard was sentenced back in August for a first-degree felony charge of child kidnapping.

He was sentenced to 10 years to life in prison for trying to grab a Provo girl as she walked home after school. The girl was able to break free and run home.

Earlier this month, Guard pleaded no contest to two attempted kidnapping charges for trying to lure a girl into his car.
