Mountain Home Fire 78 acres, 50% contained

The Mountain Home Fire, which began Tuesday in Weber County, was mapped at 78 acres and was 50% contained as of 9:30 p.m. Additional crews were assigned to the fire Tuesday night. Fire officials asked the public to avoid the Coldwater Canyon Trailhead while firefighters work to extinguish the blaze.

8 brush fires being investigated as arson in Coalville

In the last 24 hours, Coalville has seen 8 grass/brush fires that are being investigated as arson, North Summit Fire authorities said Tuesday evening. Anyone with information is asked to call 435-336-3605.

Allen Fire mapped at 40 acres, smaller than previous estimates

The Allen Fire, which began Monday in Daggett County, was mapped at 40 acres on Tuesday evening. Previously, the lightning-caused fire had been estimated to be between 75-100 acres, fire officials said. As of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, the fire was 0% contained and had moved away from structures.

Cigarette-caused Goshen Canyon Fire 100% contained

Firefighting crews have fully contained the Goshen Canyon Fire, which started Monday in Utah County, fire officials reported Tuesday evening. The fire was caused by someone dropping a cigarette in dry grass, officials reported. One structure was evacuated initially after the fire began and others were threatened on Monday. By 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters had gained 100% containment.

Turkey Farm Road Fire 11,700 acres, 0% contained

By 8 p.m. Tuesday fire officials said the Turkey Farm Road Fire, which started in Washington County on Monday evening, had grown to 11,700 acres and was 0% contained. No evacuations were in place as of Tuesday night and the fire had made significant runs throughout the day, fire officials reported.

Abbott Fire 60% contained, 52 acres

The 52-acre Abbott Fire burning in Duchesne County had reached 60% containment as of Tuesday at 6:20 p.m.

#AbbottFire in Duchesne Co. is 60% contained and still estimated at 52 acres.

The fire is on top of a ridge about 1.5 miles west of US-191 and about 2.5 miles south of Buck Knoll.

There is no threat to travelers on US-191. #utfire

Iron County evacuates Hamlin Valley after Nevada fire spreads to Utah

All residents in Hamlin Valley, a remote area in Iron County, were evacuated by the Iron County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday evening after a Nevada fire spread to Utah. The Big Summit Fire, which is being managed by a Nevada fire team, started on Monday and the cause is under investigation.

Some homes evacuated in response to Turkey Farm Road Fire

A few homes were evacuated in Green Springs on Tuesday in response to the firework-caused Turkey Farm Road Fire in Washington County, a spokesperson with Statewide Prevention and Fire Communications confirmed.  The evacuees were expected to be allowed to return home later Tuesday.

Turkey Farm Road Fire caused by illegal fireworks; investigators seeking help in finding those responsible

The Turkey Farm Road Fire, which began Monday night in Washington County, was caused by fireworks, officials confirmed Tuesday. Investigators also sought the public’s help in identifying the individuals responsible for incident — fireworks are illegal year-round in the area the fire was started. Three teenage males are suspected of being involved, fire officials said. They were seen driving a white sedan on Cottonwood Road about 9 p.m. on Monday. Anyone with information is asked to call 435-704-4456. One outbuilding was destroyed in the fire, which had burned 1,662 acres by Tuesday afternoon and was 0% contained as of 3 p.m.

Mountain Home Fire now estimated at 30 acres

The Mountain Home Fire, which began burning on Tuesday in Weber County, was estimated to be about 30 acres as of 3:25 p.m. Earlier in the day, fire officials estimated it was around 10 acres. The fire was burning near the Coldwater trailhead and two helicopters were fighting the blaze Tuesday afternoon.  Additional resources had been called in Tuesday afternoon including a 20-person crew and another helicopter. The fire’s cause was under investigation as of Tuesday afternoon.

Allen Fire in Daggett County 75-100 acres

The lightning-caused Allen Fire was estimated to be about 75-100 acres as of 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The fire, which burned near the Utah-Colorado state line, was burning through timber in steep terrain, fire officials said. More crews were called in Tuesday to help fight the fire.

Crews gaining control of Veyo West Fire in Washington County as another fire burns near St. George

The Veyo West Fire is nearly knocked down, but another fire that sparked Monday night is still burning just north of St. George in Washington County, authorities said. The Cottonwood Springs Fire is burning just above St. George at the base of Pine Valley, according to St. George Fire Chief Robert Stoker. Crews responded to the blaze about 9 p.m. Monday, he added. Stoker did not know how big the fire was. There are no structures threatened, but there is some concern that power lines and water wells in the area may be damaged, he said. Though Stoker said the Veyo West Fire, burning at 1,100 acres north of St. George, is mostly knocked down, a Fire Management Assistance Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency has been approved to support firefighting efforts on the blaze, the agency said.

New fire sparks in North Ogden

A new wildfire, dubbed the Mountain Home Fire, has sparked near North Ogden in Weber County, fire officials reported Tuesday through Utah Fire Info. The fire is visible from North Ogden and is currently burning at 10 acres, officials said. The cause is not yet known.

Turkey Farm Road Fire near St. George deemed human-caused

The Turkey Farm Road Fire, burning three miles west of Washington City in southwest Utah, has been deemed human-caused, state and federal fire officials reported Tuesday through Utah Fire Info. The fire was mapped at 1,664 on Tuesday morning and is 0% contained, officials said. There are no evacuations in place, but some secondary roads west of Washington City and north of St. George are closed due to the blaze.

Turkey Farm Road Fire near St. George grows to 2K acres

The Turkey Farm Road Fire, burning southeast of St. George, burned actively overnight and grew to 2,000 acres as of Tuesday morning, fire officials reported through Utah Fire Info. Some structures were threatened Monday night, but no structural damage was reported Tuesday morning, officials said. The fire is 0% contained.

Some evacuations lifted at Veyo West Fire in Washington County

The Veyo West Fire has now burned about 1,100 acres in Washington County and is 0% contained, according to a tweet from Utah Fire Info. Evacuations have been lifted for Brookside and parts of west Veyo. State route 18 has reopened. Backburn operations were successful, Utah Fire Info reported.
