MONA — Two people are dead and one is in critical condition after a crash with a train Saturday evening.
The crash occurred around 5 p.m. on Burraston Road at the intersection with the Union Pacific railroad track. The small vehicle with three occupants was eastbound and was struck by a northbound train.
The driver, Jacob Michael Cottle, 22, of La Plata, Maryland, and front-seat passenger, Cassandra Brielle Hatch, 22, of Gilbert, Arizona, were both sent to Utah Valley Medical Center. Hatch died from her injuries at the hospital and Cottle is in critical condition, officials said.
The rear seat passenger, Tanner Ryan Davies, 22, of Spanish Fork, was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no witnesses to give additional information, Juab County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Brent Pulver said.
The Juab County Sheriff's office is investigating the crash along with the Union Pacific Railroad police and Utah Highway Patrol.
