SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has postponed the For the Strength of Youth conferences scheduled in the United States and Canada for 2020 until next year due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the church announced Monday.
There were nearly 300 stakes throughout the U.S. and Canada that had scheduled to attend the conferences in 2020. Those stakes will now be invited to attend in 2021.
The church released an updated schedule for the conferences to be held from 2021-2023 found here.
Last July, the church announced stakes in the U.S. and Canada would hold the conferences every other year beginning in 2021. Some 292 states were scheduled to begin to hold the conferences, which have been held outside the U.S. and Canada for more than a decade, this year.
The biennial conferences will be modeled after Brigham Young University’s long-running Especially for Youth program.
FSY conferences will include activities, devotionals, and classes designed to help strengthen faith in Jesus Christ and provide opportunities for youth to grow spiritually, socially, physically, and intellectually, according to a release from the church last July.
Area presidencies in locations outside the U.S. and Canada will determine whether those conferences will be held. Those decisions will be made in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines in respective countries.
