MILLCREEK — A woman was shot and killed in Millcreek Wednesday night, Unified police said.

Residents who heard a gunshot called police just after 10 p.m. Officers responded to 4586 Red Sage Court and found 57-year-old Linda Nemelka, of Murray, with a gunshot wound sitting in a vehicle, according to Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray.

The woman was taken to a local hospital where she died from her injuries.

The woman, identified Thursday as Nemelka, likely did not live near the scene but had been there visiting friends and was about to return home, Gray said.

Investigators don't know if the shooting was random. They believe whoever shot the woman left the area. Witnesses told police they saw a dark-colored SUV leaving the scene.

As of Thursday afternoon, police did not have any leads in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call Unified police at 801-743-7000.
