WILLARD, Box Elder County — One person died Wednesday in a crash on I-15, Utah Highway Patrol confirmed.

The wreck occurred just before noon on northbound I-15 near the off-ramp to the Perry port of entry.

The driver was killed instantly after losing control of the car, causing it to slide off the right side of the road and hit a large cement sign base, UHP officials said.

The front-seat passenger in the car was initially thought to be in serious condition. However, after she was evaluated at a hospital, officials said her condition was upgraded to good.

Troopers said the woman suffered minor injuries and was expected to be released from the hospital Wednesday night.
