OGDEN — Police have identified a woman whose body was found last week in a storage unit.

The body of Alice Ann Valdez, 41, was located Thursday in a storage shed at 2868 Grant Avenue, according to a statement released by the Ogden Police Department Tuesday.

Authorities were able to identify Valdez by her fingerprints, the statement says.

When police discovered the body last week, it was so decomposed that officers could not determine if it was a man or a woman. Some workers who were hired to move things out of the storage unit noticed a bad smell, and authorities later discovered the body among the items in the unit.

Police considered the death suspicious last week. The investigation is in the preliminary stages and there are very few leads, according to the news release.

Anyone who recognizes Valdez or has any information regarding her death is asked to contact Ogden police at 801-629-8029.
