PROVO — A man who reported the fatal shooting of a woman in Provo Tuesday has been booked into jail on suspicion of murder, according to police.
Michael Robinson, 27, called 911 shortly after 4 p.m. and told dispatch that he had been fighting with 27-year-old Freya Larsen at a house on Center Street when she became angry and threatened to kill him, jail records show. Robinson told dispatch that he became scared and shot her by accident, according to jail records.
Jail records also show that a man was fighting with Larsen in the living room of her apartment when he pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the victim as she stood near the front door and pulled the trigger. Larsen was shot once in the head and was transported to the hospital where she later died from her injury, according to Provo Police Sgt. Nisha King.
Police recovered the gun used to shoot Larsen at the home on Center Street, jail records state. The gun was loaded and had two additional loaded magazines, including an extended magazine that held several additional bullets. Authorities also recovered two other handguns, but both were packed away in a moving box and one was in a gun case while the other was unloaded in a holster at the bottom of the moving box, according to jail records.

Family previously reported that Robinson pulled out the same gun used in the shooting during an April 21 altercation with Larsen and held it against the victim's head, jail records show. Larsen did not make a report to police, but family said she planned to do so once she moved to Chicago. Larsen's sister reported the incident to police but did not provide Larsen's or Robinson's name, according to jail records.
Family also told police that the couple had been in another altercation two days before the shooting when Robinson pushed Larsen out of a vehicle, causing bruising on her body, jail records state. Police found several large bruises on Larsen's body after the shooting.
Robinson was taken into custody Tuesday, and police considered him a person of interest. He has now been booked into jail on suspicion of murder, according to jail records.
