GRANTSVILLE — A 2-year-old boy died Tuesday morning after he was hit by a car in Tooele County, officials said.
The crash happened about 10:30 a.m. near 6900 N. Burmester Road in Grantsville, Tooele County Sheriff’s Lt. Travis Scharmann said.
The incident was in a rural area of Tooele County, Scharmann said. The boy had gotten out of the residence where he lived, but it was not clear how long the child was outside of the home before he was hit, Scharmann said.
The child was transported to Mountain West Medical Center in Tooele where he later died from his injuries.
The person who hit the boy stayed at the scene of the crash and cooperated with law enforcement officials, Scharmann said. Illegal activity, including impairment, is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, he added.
The crash is still under investigation, Scharmann said. He did not release the boy’s identity because his family members were still being notified.
