SALT LAKE CITY — A former Disney Channel actor charged in Salt Lake City with trying to entice a 13-year-old boy into having sex with him took numerous steps in an effort to get the teen to comply, according to a newly unsealed search warrant.

The "boy" turned out to be an undercover Salt Lake City police officer.

Stoney Westmoreland was charged Dec. 21 in 3rd District Court with enticing a minor, a second-degree felony; four counts of dealing in harmful materials to a minor, a third-degree felony; and attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, a third-degree felony.

On Dec. 13, Westmoreland attempted to meet up with a 13-year-old boy and take him back to his room at the Little America Hotel, according to court documents. Westmoreland began talking to the undercover officer using the Grindr app, a search warrant unsealed in 3rd District Court states. He sent the officer numerous explicit photos and then called the officer, who posed as a teen boy, according to the warrant.

Again, the conversation was sexually explicit, the warrant states. Westmoreland then called back a second time and "stated that he was about to do something illegal with your affiant and he could get in trouble" and requested a photo of the alleged boy to "prove your affiant wasn't a police officer," the warrant states.

The officer assured Westmoreland he wasn't really a police officer, according to the warrant.

Later, Westmoreland called back again just as he was pulling up in an Uber to undercover officer's location, the warrant states. That's when the officer called for backup and Westmoreland was arrested.

Salt Lake police served a search warrant on Westmoreland's hotel room and seized "two sex novelty toys," according to a return to the warrant.

After his arrest, Westmoreland was fired from his role as the grandfather of the main character in the Disney show "Andi Mack," which shoots in Salt Lake City. Westmoreland has also appeared in "Scandal" and "Breaking Bad."

His next court date was scheduled for Jan. 11.
