MURRAY — Current Salt Lake County Councilman Arlyn Bradshaw has announced he is running for county mayor, according to his campaign.
Bradshaw, a Democrat, is vying for the seat that will be vacated by current Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams when the U.S. Rep.-elect transitions to Washington, D.C. in January.
“I got into public office because of my desire to serve the community and help make it better a place for future generations,” Bradshaw said in an emailed statement. “Being a council member has been the experience of a lifetime; one that I will take with me as I continue to work on behalf of Salt Lake County residents.”
Bradshaw is expected to formally launch his campaign Monday at Wheeler Farm in Murray, his campaign said. He was first elected to the county council in 2010 and represents Council District 1.
Wilson ran for U.S. Senate, losing to Mitt Romney in the Nov. 6 election. Ghorbani ran against U.S. Rep. Chris Stewart, losing to the incumbent in the race for Utah’s Second Congressional District.
The three will be campaigning for votes from the Salt Lake County Democratic Central Committee. That body will hold a special election to replace McAdams, likely in late January 2019, according to Wilson’s campaign.
