EDEN, Weber County — A new fire sparked Friday afternoon northwest of where one started Thursday, fire officials said.
The fire was reported about 1 mile north of Utaba Reservoir and is estimated to be an acre in size, according to a Weber Fire District tweet. The agency added resources from the nearby Avon Fire, which is burning south of Powder Mountain — east of the new fire.
The cause of the fire north of Utaba Reservoir remains unknown and no other information was provided.
Meanwhile, a growing amount of crews have arrived in Weber County Friday to battle the Avon Fire.
"They've been rolling in all morning and we've had more 20-person crews show up," said LeAnn Fox, spokeswoman for the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands. "A lot more resources have arrived on scene."
The blaze was 10 percent contained Friday evening and remained just above 780 acres in size. Fox said it was caused by target shooting.
The fire led to several closures. State Route 158, south of the mountain, remained closed Friday evening.
Evacuations at Powder Mountain Ski Resort were lifted and the area was put on pre-evacuation status. Access to nearby Pineview Reservoir water was closed earlier Friday to allow scooper planes to take water to drop on the fire. The reservoir had reopened as of 5:30 p.m.
A community meeting was planned for 6:30 p.m. at the Eden Park (2100 N. 5600 East) in Eden, Weber County, where fire officials would give an update on the firefighting efforts.
