SALT LAKE CITY — A winter-like storm moved into the Wasatch Front just in time for the morning commute Thursday, bringing wind, rain, and the possibility of snow by afternoon.
The storm system began with strong winds and rain, particularly in Davis County, but changed to snow by mid-morning in some places.

The storm was expected to leave a trace to 2 inches of snow on the valley floor, according to KSL Meteorologist Grant Weyman. Bench areas may see 3 to 6 inches of snow.

Some areas can expect high winds upward of 30 miles per hour, with some gusts even higher, Weyman said.

Motorists on I-80 near Wendover should be aware of wind gusts over 70 miles per hour in the area until at least 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
