MAGNA — Two people were transported to a hospital after a shooting Tuesday morning, police said.
Unified police detective Chuck Malm said a driver of a black Nissan hatchback or small SUV pulled up to a bus stop outside of a state liquor store located at 7250 W. 3500 South. The driver and a 17-year-old boy got into an argument before the driver left shortly before 10 a.m.
The driver then came back about 10 minutes later and shot at the teen, striking him before leaving the scene, Malm said. A bystander, a 56-year-old state employee, was also shot, he added.
The teen and the bystander were both transported to a hospital in critical condition but Malm said both have since been upgraded to fair condition and their injuries were stabilized.
Police are still looking for the driver of the SUV, Malm said. A description of the person suspected in the shooting was not immediately provided. The vehicle was last seen traveling west on 3500 South before turning north onto Patrick Drive (7320 West).

Police were interviewing any possible witnesses late Tuesday morning. Malm said police were trying to determine the relationship between the driver and the teen. He added there may have been multiple people inside the vehicle at the time.
"It appears that they knew each other or they had a conversation," he said.
Granite School District put a shelter in place for Lake Ridge Elementary, Copper Hills Elementary and Matheson Junior High after the shooting. The shelter in place was lifted after about an hour.
The shooting also closed 7200 West at 3500 South for several hours while police collected evidence from the scene. . Contributing: Peter Samore
